Customize Your Trip
We’ve spent extensive time in the canyon and can shape the trip based on what you care about.
All trips are private and flexible within the constraints of permits, route, and conditions.
What we can adjust:
Guiding Style
More hands-on and conversational vs quieter and more independent
Focus Areas
Exploration, skills, rest & recovery, ecology, photography, or a mix
Trip Structure
Shorter vs longer trips. Basecamp structure vs relocating camps.
Pace and daily rhythm
More ground covered vs more time in camp vs more exploration from basecamp
How this works:
We’ll talk through your goals, experience level, and timing, then shape the trip so it comes together cleanly.
What we can adjust:
Permits & Trip Logistics
Aravaipa Canyon requires permits for all trips.
Moonflower supports several trip setups depending on your situation:
01/
Guided trips with permits provided
We regularly secure permits in advance and can provide them as part of a guided trip when available.
02/
Guided trips using your permits
If you already have permits, we can guide your trip as long as you have sufficient permits to include two guides (or we have our own permits for the same dates).
03/
Shuttle trips
If you are hiking/backpacking independently, we provide trailhead shuttle service, with an optional overnight (at Turkey Creek) just outside the East-side wilderness boundary. In this case, you are responsible for securing your own permits.
If you’re unsure how this works, we’ll walk you through it during your planning call.
Reviews
The canyon itself is incredible, but what made the trip was how much more I was able to see and understand because of the guiding.
Things I would have completely walked past on my own suddenly had context—how the water moves, where life concentrates, what makes this place so unique.
It turned what could have been a beautiful hike into something much deeper. I came away feeling like I had actually experienced the place, not just passed through it.
