Safety

Guide Training

At least one guide on every trip holds current Wilderness First Responder certification and CPR training appropriate for remote environments.

High Guide / Participant Ratio

We always have at least 1 guide per 4 participants. On a majority of trips, 2 guides are present.

Emergency Communication

Guides carry satellite communication devices capable of SOS activation and two-way messaging.

Cell phones are carried as secondary communication where service is available.

Environmental Conditions

Environmental conditions in Aravaipa Canyon may include:

  • extreme heat and sun exposure
  • flash flooding
  • cold nighttime temperatures
  • creek crossings
  • uneven terrain
  • wildlife encounters

Guides have training, equipment, and contingency plans for all of the above eventualities.

Trips are planned conservatively and guides monitor weather and canyon conditions throughout the trip.

Low Impact Commitment

Guides follow Leave No Trace practices and instruct participants in low-impact wilderness travel.
